Many people are motivated most of the time by fear of the failure or success, worry about potential disasters, and the avoidance of pain and guilt. This is even more true today than it was before the current economic crisis hit. There are many fears and negative fantasies circulating through our news media, our conversations, and our own minds. This has a profound effect on all of us, creating internal gremlins and the tendency to focus on fear and worry versus vision. Being motivated by fears creates a very different experience of life than being motivated by a powerful and compelling vision of what is possible. We push ourselves through life rather than being pulled when we are motivated by fear instead of by inspiration and possibility. In order to align yourself vision and possibility instead of fear and worry requires you to get clarity. Knowing what you want is half the battle. The best place to start is by creating a vision of where you’re headed. A vision is a holistic picture of what you want, including details, feelings, and whatever elements are important and meaningful to you. This vision may need refining as you come to know yourself better. It’s not only more fun and pleasurable to live from vision and possibility. It’s also a lot more effective. It is very useful to create a compelling and exciting vision for your business. Once you have this vision, it is helpful to keep it in mind, think about it often, and allow it to inform your actions on a daily basis. Some of the benefits include more aliveness and vitality, as well as greater creativity, new perspectives, drive, tenacity and even discipline. Discovering and creating your vision can be fun.
